JONI ÖSTERLUND began his training at the Finnish National Opera Ballet School in Helsinki and subsequently studied in Salzburg and Budapest. From 2016 to 2019, he was a member of the Eger Dance Company at the Gárdonyi Géza Theater in Hungary.

He has lived in Vienna as a freelance dancer and choreographer since 2019. He has performed at the Finnish National Ballet, the Vienna State Opera, the Volksoper Vienna, the Salzburg Festival, Theater Basel and with the Tero Saarinen Company and the Susanna Leinonen Company, among others, and has worked with directors and choreographers such as Imre & Marne van Opstal, Christof Loy, Lázsló Nemes, Kirill Serebrennikov, Robert Carsen, Keith Warner, Ran Arthur Braun, Nicolas Paul, Johanna Nuutinen, Rebecca Howell and Klevis Elmazaj.
